I wanted to share a quick video I made last week. A couple friends and myself headed up into the Juan de Fuca Provincial Park and visited a few of the beaches there. One of them, Sombrio beach, is quite famous for its surf, and many people from Victoria and the surrounding areas head up on windy days. I thought we were going to be the only people for miles, but to my surprise there were 30 people in the water at one point surfing. It made for much better video.

Just thought I would do a quick post to share my first ever motion timelapse. In the past I have only done static, locked off timelapses, but today I brought out my dolly and did a little test on a beach close to my house.
I shot 1 frame every 5 seconds, and in between frames, would move my camera down 1mm. It took a lot of concentration, but I think it turned out OK. Can’t wait to get out and shoot another!
Last week I spent a day at world renown Gemstone Carver, Thomas Mcphee’s Salt Spring Island studio and gallery to find out what inspires him to create these amazing little pieces of work.
“In 2004, Thomas Mcphee opened his studio-gallery to the public by appointment on Salt Spring Island. This studio is where Tom has worked for many years carving gemstones into exquisite sculptures that sell around the world. McPhee also works with kiln cast glass creating miniature crystal sculptures, jewellery, and large scale works.
Among collectors of carved gemstone, Thomas McPhee is known for his figurative sculptures, magic realism, and images from Pacific Northwest native art.
McPhee works in a variety of media, cast crystal glass, gemstone, marble, granite, bronze, cast stone, drawing, and painting.”
This past April I was contracted by www.NSMB.com to head down to Monterey,California for the Sea Otter Classic. An annual mountain bike race and trade show/expo. Being the first major event of the year, many companies use this time to unveil their brand new products to the public. My job was find, and document these products for the website. Check out a couple of my video’s from the trip below.
